The Vintage Sports Car Club of America (VSCCA) has over 1,000 members who share a love of sports cars built prior to 1959. It maintains a full and varied events calendar that includes track events, rallies, hill-climbs, tours, and social events.

The club hosts a number of track events at prominent venues like Lime Rock Park, VIR, Summit Point, Pocono, and many others. Two of these events a year include driver schools, designed to acclimate newcomers to vintage racing.

In 2008 VSCCA celebrated its 50th anniversary. For information about events or membership, visit their website at VSCCA.org.

Begun in 2002, Le Mans Classic is a bi-annual celebration of over 50 years of the 24 hours of Le Mans, run on the hallowed 13.6-kilometer Circuit de la Sarthe. Cars from all eras of Le Mans history return to prove their mettle yet again against an idyllic backdrop of French countryside. True to form, Le Mans Classic runs a full 24 hours, posing an intense challenge to both car and driver.

The Goodwood Festival of Speed, and its sister event, the Goodwood Revival, are held at the stunning Goodwood Estate in West Sussex, England.  Hosted by Lord March, Goodwood is a venue steeped in British motorsports history. This 1.86 km hill-climb attracts an amazing array of vintage cars, as well as motorsports heroes both past and present. Tremendous pageantry surrounds the event, which is attended by more than 100,000 spectators—many of whom add to the ambience by dressing in period costume.

A favorite among many vintage racers, the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix is America’s only vintage street race. City streets and beautiful Schenley Park are blocked off to create a breathtaking and challenging 2.3-mile circuit for racers to show off in front of 200,000 spectators. The 2009 race weekend is July 18-19, and is the crescendo of a ten-day festival of racing, car shows, and gala events, all for the benefit of the Allegheny Valley School and the Autism Society of Pittsburgh. It showcases the best of Pittsburgh and is wonderful for the whole family. The event is sanctioned by the VSCCA, and David George is the event chair—visit our PVGP Driver’s page or the PVGP Website.

The Rolex Monterey Historics are an opportunity to experience California racing at its finest, at the marvelous Laguna Seca Raceway.  Organized by General Racing, the event is one of the premier vintage race events in the United States. Grids representing all eras of motorsports history are filled with some of the finest vintage race cars in action today.

The event takes place in August as part of Monterey’s legendary classic car week—which also includes the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance—assuring widespread festivity and plenty of local points of interest.

Truly one of the most spectacular vintage racing events, the Monte-Carlo Historic Grand Prix takes place every other year in Monaco. The world-class circuit—through city streets—has not changed since its first race in 1929, and continues to host the Monaco Grand Prix, one of the highlights of the modern Formula One calendar.
